A BLANKET OF SILENCE

Often a great hue and cry is raised by U.S. elected officials, executive and legislative, as well as State Department and U.N. delegation members over violations of human rights and moral decency by various and sundry foreign governments and regimes. Usually those who are in opposition, one way or another, to "AMERICAN INTERESTS."

So where is the "hue and cry" over the outrageous inhumane treatment of a U.S. Citizen and businessman, John Gregory Lambros, by the Brazilian Government? Mr. Lambros, a Minnesota businessman, was arrested May 17, 1991, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, denied bail that had been set by the U.S. and Brazilian Supreme Court, for extradition back to the U.S., that has since been ORDERED UNCONSTITUTIONAL, Lobue vs. Christopher, 893 F. Supp. 65 (D.D.C. 1995), on an untried charge. Remember, under our legal system you are presumed innocent unless, and until, you are convicted in a proper U.S. Court of law.

When John G. Lambros asked the U.S. Embassy in Brazil for information and assistance in obtaining a copy of the arrest warrant and other related documents he was curtly refused. Nearly two (2) months passed while John G. Lambros languished in a Brazilian jail. A jail out of the middle ages in the conditions he was forced to survive under. It gets worse!

July 11, 1991, Mr. Lambros was transferred to Brasilia, the capital of Brazil. He had not even been given his Brazilian Constitutional Rights of being brought before a judge in Rio de Janeiro during that near two (2) months. For the next ten (10) months Lambros was subjected to "treatments" that the late Dr. Joseph Mengele, the infamous "Angel of Death" at Auschwitz Concentration Camp in Nazi Germany would have been proud of! He was placed in a "Depatterning Cell", which, by the way, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers helped build. This Depatterning Cell makes a sensual deprivation tank look like an amusement park attraction. He was forcefully implanted with brain control implants/Parametric Cavities and tortured. U.S. Government X-rays and various scans have confirmed that he has "foreign objects implanted in his skull, and his body has degenerated rapidly over these past few years, even though he is now in U.S. Custody.

Mr. Lambros has requested the intervention and help of both his home state of Minnesota U.S. Senators Rod Grams and Paul Wellstone, as well as U.S. Senators Jesse Helms; Chairman and Nancy Kassebaum, member of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee. He has appealed to the President of Brazil, Fernando Henrique Cardoso. He has furnished proof of his inhumane treatment... but no one in the U.S. or Brazilian Government has responded.

No "hue and cry", only a "Blanket of Silence"? Can it be that the U.S. Government is blatantly willing to ignore the outrageous treatment Mr. Lambros was subjected to by Brazilian police and government personnel? It appears that "human rights violations" are not important to the U.S. government when the perpetrating regime is an important trading partner and docile follower of U.S. foreign policy.
